Our Pastor Dr. Steve D. Cassimy
Pastor Steve D. Cassimy is a native of Trinidad, West Indies. He received his elementary and part of his secondary education in Trinidad.
He attended Kingsway College and graduated in 1976 with an Associate of Arts degree. He attended Canadian Union College from 1976 to 1978 graduating with a Bachelor of Theology degree. He was the Youth and Associate Pastor of Westmouth SDA church from 1978 to 1979. He attended the Theological Seminary 1979-1981 and completed the Master of Divinity degree. In addition he completed the Marriage and Family Commitment Leadership Training levels 1, 2, and 3 along with serving as the Associate Director at the Center for Human Relations.
In 1982, he returned to Quebec, Canada to Pastor the La Salle and Mount Zion SDA churches. In 1984 he assumed the position of Campus Ministries Chaplain at Crawford Adventist Academy, and later the pastor at the Downsview SDA church.
In 1987, Pastor Cassimy became the Senior pastor at the Perth Avenue SDA church, a position he held for nine years. In 1997, Pastor Cassimy became the Senior Pastor at the West Toronto SDA church. In 1998, Pastor Cassimy accepted the call to be the Senior Pastor of the Grand Concourse SDA Temple in the Bronx, NY, a position he held for nine and a half years. In June 2007, Pastor Cassimy was asked to assume the responsibility of pasturing the Shalom Seventh-Day Adventist Church in the North Bronx.
In additional to his pastoral assignments, Dr. Cassimy was appointed and presently serves as Ministerial Secretary of the Greater New York Conference. He is also the Host of the Television program---Pathway of Hope---- seen on 3ABN and Hope TV.
In 1994, Dr. Cassimy received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Andrews University. Dr. Cassimy was a member of the Board of Directors for the SDA church in Canada and is currently a member of the Human Relations Advisory for the North American Division. In addition to his full-time ministry in Toronto, Dr. Steve Cassimy found time to serve his community as Chaplain at Centenary Hospital in Scarborough. In 2002, Dr. Cassimy graduated as a United Chaplain in the state of New York. Pastor Cassimy has served on committees for the last thirty years. He presently serves as a member of the Greater New York Conference executive committee and as a member of the Atlantic Union executive committee.
Dr. Cassimy is married to Marilyn Harper, a nurse formally of London, England. They have two children, David who is a businessman, and Lavona who is a social worker. Both children are graduates of Oakwood College.
Dr. Cassimy has spoken in most of the Caribbean Islands, Europe, Africa, Canada, India, the Ukraine and across the United States. Dr. Cassimy is presently pursuing another doctoral degree in Pastoral Counseling.
